Where the lowland Krakovo Forest slowly ascends the green Gorjanci hills, lies Kostanjevica na Krki, the smallest, one of the oldest and also the only town on a river island in Slovenia.
With its rich natural and cultural heritage – the medieval town centre, the Kostanjevica cave, the Božidar Jakac Art Museum with Sculpture park Forma Viva, it attracts numerous visitors from near and far. Kostanjevica na Krki is an ideal place for a relaxed or active break with its many hiking trails and sport activities on the river Krka and gastronomic experiences in the wine-growing landscape of the Gorjanci hills.
