The most beautiful stories are the result of friendship. This is when they just happen!
Koroška hiša and the Guesthouse Gora pod lipo. Each on its side of the Pohorje mountain range, both created with the wish to preserve the roots, tradition and characteristics of the local environment. Both have their own story and gastronomy adding value to the region. In the yards of both houses stands a linden tree – the symbol of Slovenia.
The homestead Koroška hiša fascinates with its selection of local dishes that are presented in an original way. You will be accommodated in a štiblc with its special charm. Nearby is one of the oldest churches in Slovenia – the rotunda of John the Baptist. Having breakfast is a special experience in the Koroška hiša and you will also be served coffee or tea in lovely cups – as well as something sweet. In the middle of Helena’s garden is an event you will never forget. Koroška hiša is also an excellent starting point for bicycle tours along the colourful valley Dravska dolina.
On the hillside of Pohorje, among the vineyards, is the homestead Gora pod lipo. When breathing the fresh air of the Pohorje mountain, tasting the meals and feeling the warmth of the homestead, it feels as if time stands still for a moment. Chef Andrej Kuhar ads a touch of high cuisine to the regional culinary story. All this is complemented by house wines, produced on the basis of their own local yeast. In the cold months the smell of an open fire spreads through the old house. This is the time when you can, for a moment, feel like in the times of your grandparents. During summer you can enjoy the quiet nature and relax in the sun.
A former Slovenian slogan said – we the people are tourism. And we feel the same. All of us, who co-create the story tastes of Pohorje. During your welcome you will feel the personal touch. The soul is captured in the ambience of both our houses, telling the story of our region. The most important thing for us is the food that is prepared with love and selected ingredients.
On your way through the beautiful valley Dravska dolina towards Bistrica Pohorje do not miss visiting the oldest vine in the world. It is over 400 years old. In the house Stara trta you can taste wines of the Styrian region and learn more about their history.
Welcome to a gourmet’s journey through Koroška and Štajerska! We are looking forward to welcoming you!
