FINALIST#1: Three different experiences in three castles

Do you like stories about castles? In the Čatež & Brežice area there are four castles.

It is very important how you start your day – so why not start it like a king? A Slovenian proverb goes like this: “Eat in the morning like a king, at noon like a bourgeois and in the evening like a beggar.”  In the old town you can visit Yogurtlandia Brežice, the first franchised store of frozen yogurt in Slovenia. For breakfast they have something special: pancakes or waffles with different dressings and with a great view of the Brežice castle.

Have a walk through the old town of Brežice and get to know the stories of the past, accompanied by a local tourist guide. You will learn about Brežice and see things that only locals know.

Following the picturesque Gasa street, you will reach Brežice castle, the home of the Posavje Museum Brežice. Occasional and permanent exhibitions reveal how ancestors lived here. But the highlight of the tour is certainly the Knight`s Hall, which is a first-class baroque gallery with rich mythological content and a fresco painting that is unique from that time in Slovenia.

Then it is time to explore the surrounding nature. In the small village of Pišece is Pišece castle, which is closed for visitors, but today you can enjoy the privacy of being between castle walls. After two castles it is time to have a break. You deserve a tasty lunch.

Each castle has their own story and now is time for the last one. We invite you to a more active way of spending of your free time in the arms of pristine nature in the Mokrice castle. Around the Mokrice castle is a golf course that stretches over 70 hectares and has 18 holes. Do you think the game is easy? It is time to find out and maybe find a new passion?
