Guided tourist experience Iron Honey and Mount Uršlja – The Blacksmith’s Spark and the Experience on Mount Uršlja

On Saturday, we met with Katja and Drago, who run Čebelarstvo DKJ in Mežica, and offered us a fascinating museum of beekeeping tour (even though I am not very much of a museum person I enjoyed it a lot). Then they took us to their bee-oasis in the middle of the forest, where we could taste different honey products, visit their spotless bee house and have a honey massage (me) and honey beer tasting (husband). We actually learnt about bees’ life cycle and the benefits of apitherapy.

After that, we went to lunch at Farm Kajžar, where we were hosted by a friendly family who runs the business and serve tasty local food.

Not long after that, we drove back to the Natura Fina Glamping place where we were accommodated for the weekend. Beautiful, clean, and of course in nature-you do not need more, really!

But no time to rest yet. Andrej Lach-president of the Beekeeping organisation Ravne na Koroskem, is already ready to take us on a beekeeping trail. This day reminds us of the importance of taking care of bees, as they are taking care of us by pollinating the Planet. Without that, we would not survive long!

After a friendly and educational time and lots of honey gifts which we have received, we only had the strength to use the nearby wellness centre with a nice swimming pool and saunas.

The next day was equally beautiful and intensive.
We had a blacksmith experience. I was really impressed by real master who showed us the art of this work and of course I wish to order his handmade iron pan for sure!  Then our lovely guide Saša took us to the most magical place, Mount Uršlja . Even though I have hiked quite a lot for more than 5 years here in Slovenia, that was my first time in this hidden gem area and on this mountain.

I was stunned by the energy of the mountain itself, simply magical Church at the top and absolutely beautiful Koča Dom na Uršlji Gori, with amazing food as a cherry on the cake. We also had a quick look at Prežihova bajta, the place of where the writer Lovro Kuharjev lived.

What can I say- thank you to Radio SI and Zavod za kulturo, šport, turizem in mladinske dejavnosti Ravne na Koroškem and all the amazing hosts who invited us, shared their passion and the magic of their region with us.

It was great to unwind and experience Ravne na Korośkem. Honestly can’t wait to go back with my #stepbystehikes tribe and children as soon as possible, as this is a place where everyone can find and explore something adventurous, and/or relaxing, magical and tasty for sure!
