FINALIST#3: Enjoy the hidden corners of Prekmurje

FINALIST#3: Enjoy the hidden corners of Prekmurje

Stop. What`s your hurry? Here in Prekmurje time runs slower so kick off the shoes and enjoy. Learn a local craft, take on a pottery or plaiting class, indulge your taste buds with local dishes and local drinks or just take a stroll over the hills of Goričko. You are always welcome.

DAY 1:
14.00 – Arrival at the Vinarium tower, untill recently the tallest tower in Slovenia, which rises some 53 metres above the ground. It is well know for its stuning views in the morning or in the evening and you can get to the platform by foot or, if you just don’t feel like it, you can take a lift.
16.00 – check-in at the castle Grad in Goričko, probably the biggest castle in Slovenia. You will stay in a castle room for the night, but not before the host gives you the tour of the castle, the wine cellar and the local shop.
17.30 – a dinner awaits at the small local restaurant in the village of Grad; you`ll get to taste some of the local dishes, typical of Goričko part of Prekmurje.
Have a good night rest after the dinner because you will have to be up early in the morning.

DAY 2:
5 A.M. – waking time
At 6 o’clock in the morning you will be already on the spot, because we have a flight to catch. Well, a flight with a hot air ballon, that is. Hopefully the weather will play along and off we will go. In an hour of flying there will be our region at your feet. After the landing you will celebrate the safe returning with a glass of local wine and you`ll help to put the balloon away.
10.30 – 11.30 – Our second point of interest will be the Interactive experience park Expano with 22 different stations, where you get to know our breathtaking region. Probably the most interesting points are the moving of mineral water with your mind and VR-flight with a hot air ballon (so you can compare the real thing with the VR).
12.00 – 13.30 – Next we are off to to the local restaurant on a small hill with a beautiful  view on the surrounding hills and vineyards. Prekmurje is well known for its delicacies such as prekmurska šunka, bujta repa, different pork dishes and more. But we must not forget prekmurska gibanica: simply a dessert or a cake, that`s an eternal question.
14.00 – To walk some of those calories off, we will be taking a guiding along the so called Pot po močvari in a small village of Lončarovci. The 400-metres way was built by the locals and is a perfect place to meditate or relax, at the same time you get to know local animals and habitats. Giant willows, swaying gently in the breeze, soothing bird singing and a soothing murmur of a running brook. Heaven on earth!
15.15 –  We are awaited at the TIC Selo, where their guide will take us to the Rotunda, a beautiful pearl of the roman architecture and gothic mural painting. And as of couple of weeks a new feature awaits there.
